Technical Manager Renewable Energy
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Manager to join a groundbreaking green hydrogen production project at the Gothenburg Harbour. This pioneering initiative is a key step in decarbonizing heavy transport across Scandinavia, with a focus on producing 6 MW of hydrogen for trucks, ferries, ships, trains, and buses.
In the assignment as a Technical Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical workstreams throughout the project. You will lead a team of engineers and contractors, overseeing the design and development of the hydrogen production plant. This role involves close cooperation with the Project Manager and other workstream leaders, and you will be a key part of the project team driving technical excellence.
You will be based in Gothenburg but the assignment will include some travel as the technical team of engineers and contractors is in Oslo.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical team of engineers and contractors, overseeing design and ensuring high-quality execution across all project phases.
- Manage the full technical lifecycle of the hydrogen production plant, from scope development to design reviews and constructability assessments.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and workstream leaders to align technical deliverables with overall project goals.
- Evaluate technology options, identify optimization opportunities, and oversee supplier documentation and contractor work to meet technical requirements.
- Coordinate technical interfaces between the owner, customer, and suppliers, ensuring smooth communication and compliance with regulations and quality standards.
- Ensure quality assurance and the application of standards, codes, and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements:
- Experience: Extensive experience managing technical aspects of large-scale projects in renewable energy, hydrogen production, or related industries.
- Engineering Expertise: Strong technical background, ideally in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering, with knowledge of hydrogen production systems and infrastructure.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage engineering teams and contractors, ensuring the successful delivery of complex technical projects.
- Quality & Safety Focus: A commitment to ensuring high-quality engineering deliverables, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Educational Background: A relevant degree in engineering or similar field.
- Languages: Fluent in English; proficiency in Swedish or Norwegian is a plus.
